Hey, I'm Cheryl
Or whatever your next adventure holds
Feeling good as a Mom and successful corporate employee can be a challenge, but finding time to start a business while working, or plan for anything other than what’s for dinner, can seem unrealistic. It is possible but you need to be intentional with your time. It all comes down to how serious you are about your next chapter. Keep reading to learn my three simple tips to help you kick-start your entrepreneurial journey – or other future adventures – without compromising your daily responsibilities.
Visualize it
Before you embark on your journey, take a moment to imagine where you want to be in the future. Visualize what your future will look like. Where are you living? What does your home look like? What are your daily and nightly rituals? Who are you spending time with? What are you eating? Get a solid picture for what your life will look, taste, smell and sound like when you achieve your goal.
If you’re not sure what’s next for you, read through my previous post on Finding your Passion.
Write down your vision for your business or passions – the products or services you want to offer, the impact you wish to make, and what your work life looks and feels like. Having a clear vision will help you stay focused and motivated, especially during challenging times when balancing everything feels overwhelming. It’s ok if you don’t know all of the details yet. Don’t let that stop you from moving forward. You can add to your vision as you gather more information.
Now that you have a vision for your future, revisit it every night before you fall asleep. See it and feel it. This will get your brain moving in the right direction.
Organize work time
Each morning or evening, carve out 15 minutes to plan time for your future into your upcoming day. Where can you to dedicate time to work on your vision. Analyze your daily routine to identify areas where you can consistently re-coop time to start a business while working. It could be during your lunch break, while waiting to pick up your kids from school, or after they’ve gone to bed. Don’t be afraid to ask for help so that you can focus on what it is that you want. Perhaps someone else can do the laundry, run carpool or make dinner. Use these moments to work on your next step, whatever that is.

One step at a time
Once you have your vision laid out and identified pockets of time to work on it, write down the first actionable step towards making it a reality. It could be registering your business name, conducting market research, or reaching out to potential customers. Break down this step into smaller, manageable tasks, and slate the next one into the time block you set aside above. This will help you stay focused on the next right task and keep you from filling it up with whatever else comes at you.
Be careful not to get too far ahead and plan out everything you think you’ll need to do. Large blocks are fine for the tasks that are farther out. As you learn, those will change. With your time being so precious, you don’t want to spend it on something you end up not needing. By taking consistent small actions every day, you’ll gradually build momentum and move closer to achieving your dream.
Conclusion
Congratulations on being brave enough to take control of your future. As a mom working full-time, it may require some extra effort to better organize your time, but it is absolutely possible to start a business while working and move on to your next adventure. With the right mindset, focused intention and a clear vision, you can make progress on your future today and starting living the life you want.
